Things to Bring With You

We have everything here you could possibly need, but there may be some things you wish to bring along...

Almost everything you'll need on our courses is provided by us as part of the package (see what's included in our cooking, painting and photography courses).

Whilst here, you should want for nothing other than a good book to read during your time off.

However, there may be some things that would make your stay even better, but, as anyone schooled in the small-print of Murphy's law will tell you, if we haven't got it, you probably won't have it with you either!

A checklist of essentials, and not so essentials...

This may be France, but Murphy's law is alive and well here (and Murphy was an optimist, anyway).

Here, then, is a general checklist of things you might want to bring with you, followed by items particular to the course you are attending...

All courses...

• Camera - we've had some great pictures taken over the years

• Comfy shoes, sandals or trainers - there'll be quite a bit of standing

• Woolly pully - it can get a bit chilly here in the 'shoulder' months

• Waterproof jacket, a hat and sun cream - when it rains, it rains, and when it shines, it burns!

• Euros - yes, there'll be a chance to do a spot of shopping during the week

• Book - don't forget that bodice-ripper!

Cooking course...

• Your own knives - your chance to practice with knives familiar to you

• To preserve your sanity, do not bring...

  • Weighing scales

  • A tape measure

  • The Atkins Diet book ;-)

Painting course...

• Personal equipment - we supply everything, but you may want to bring your personal paints, pastels, pencils, etc

• Sketch pad - a small pad for quick scribbles and impressions, tonal studies, etc

• Digital camera - for on-the-fly snapping for working into a finished painting when you get back to the 'factory'

• A bag or small rucksack - to carry your equipment around in

• Memory stick - for retaining images of your work

Photography course...

• Camera - but don't worry if you haven't got one, you can use ours

• SD card - or equivalent: we have a multi-card reader

• Memory stick - USB1 or USB2

• Spare camera batteries - if you have rechargeable batteries, don't bring a heavy charger - use ours
