Photography Course Tutor:

David Quinn

David Quinn...

David has been taking photographs since he was eight years old, but started work as a freelance photographer in 2001 when he left the IT industry.

Since moving to France with his young family in 2002 he has been running advanced photography workshops here in the Dordogne.

Says David: “The relaxed pace of rural life and constantly changing light throughout the seasons provides the ideal venue to practice my passion

A multi-talented and versatile photographer...

Rarely to be found without a camera, his photography covers just about every type of subject matter, in colour and black and white:

Patient, affable tuition from an experienced friendly professional...

Self-taught David understands the importance of patience and humour in teaching.

He'll find out exactly what you want to achieve on the course, then put together a suitably unique programme for you.

Then, using his vast knowledge and experience of the medium, he'll gently tease out skills you probably never knew you had. And, as you work together hands-on 'in the field', you'll find that you're suddenly clicking away like a pro and producing some very polished results.

From 35mm film to the digital darkroom...

In 1995 he moved from 35mm film to the digital medium and has never looked back. Since then, he has become adept at using a variety of digital compact and SLR cameras.

Hand in hand with the leap to digital cameras came a move to the Digital Darkroom. He no longer spends hours locked away in the dark developing each picture because he rapidly achieves the same effects (and more) through using his favourite tool: Photoshop.

Though you can rarely turn a bad photo into a good one, it's easier than ever to make a good photo great using simple techniques that are available to anyone with a computer

Current Projects...

When not taking or developing pictures, David dabbles in renovating his own little piece of the Dordogne and, when time permits, plays guitar in a band with a group of other aging rockers…
